Print this Recipe    Slum-Gullion

1 pound elbow macaroni
1 large onion, chopped
1 pound hamburger or 1/2 pound bacon
1 large can whole tomatoes
salt and pepper to taste

Cook macaroni in plenty of water until al dente. Brown onion and
hamburger or bacon or both in a big iron skillet. Throw the tomatoes,
salt and pepper and all the macaroni into the skillet. Simmer a
few minutes.

If you want to spark it up, throw in a slab of Velveeta.

we've always called this chili mac. the only difference is we use a little bit of chili powder too. sooo good. i can't make this before we go out anywhere because hubby eats so much he can't move!

Just thought all of you should know, this was what my dad called "chili" or slum-gullion. Our family name is GULLION and we grew up eating this wonderful and very inexpensive dish. sometimes he would add kidney beans or someelse for variety.
