Stuffed Cabbage 16

Golubtsy
1 cup cooked rice 1 lb cooked, chopped meat (beef or pork) 1 medium cabbage salt and pepper spices
Boil and cool a cup of rice. Mix it with 0.5kg (1 pound) of browned chopped meat (we use to take pork but quite often beef or veal - you can try). Salt, black pepper and (if you want) minced clove of garlic. Take a medium cabbage, accurately remove leaves and boil them in salted water ~10 minutes. Cool them, pound the outer part of thick stems slightly and spread.
Depending on size of a leaf - take 1 teaspoon of meat and rice mixture and wrap it with the cabbage leaf forming tight right-angled pieces (golubtsy).
Heat oil and fry golubtsy consecutively from both sides to light-brown color. Put them all to a wide pan, pour over your favorite tomato sauce and bake in medium hot oven.
My wife will often prepare an oil+onion+carrot+tomato paste (+flour) sauce specially for it.
Serve it with sour cream or mayonnaise or anything to your taste.
